Brief Description:  Oil Pickup Line

1730 - 1830

I decided to change the sump tee to provide for a quick oil drain fitting. The tee that Barrett installed was a 1/2" x 10D x 10D street tee. This fitting requires a flare fitting for the oil pickup line and a B nut for the sump drain, There was no good way to install a quick drain to the 10D flare fitting. The solution was to change the sump tee to a 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2 street tee. This fitting threads directly into the sump and has two 1/2" NPT female outlets. I found that it is a standard steel hydraulic fitting, rated for 3000psi and locally available. It was simple to use a 1/2" x 10D 45 degree nipple in the side of the tee for the oil pickup line. In fact, using the 45 nipple improved the fit of the line substantially. This left a 1/2" NPT female fitting for the sump drain. This is exactly what I need to install a standard oil quick drain. I am considering the Fumoto drain over the saf-air as I like the positve locking lever to operate the valve.
