Brief Description:  Wing Root Fairing

1400 - 1624

Continue installing taxi light lense.

Using a similar method to the Duckworks wing lights, I fabricated the necessay parts for the taxi liht lense. An 063 shim was fabricated, drilled, countersunk as necessary.

The overlap piece was fabricated from 032 sheet, and a flange was included to provide rigidity.

The lense was shortened to allow the stiffener to be closer to the LE opening.

I decided to rivet the top bracket and put the screws in the lower portion of the fairing.

The lower shim and bracket were fabricated in a similar fashion. Three nut plates were installed for 6-32 hardware. All holes were drilled, countersunk, and dimpled as necessary.

Rivet the upper bracket in place.

Rivet the nut plates on the bottom bracket. The overlap piece was included between the nutplates and shim to make the final assembly.

This method allows the lense to be changes easily, if nessary.

Tomorrow, I will install the lower fairing once more to verify fit. It will then be final riveted, and the opposite side completed.
