The right angle hd15 adapter arrived today. I installed it on the A/P head and check for fit in the panel. The connector does not interfere with the VPX now.
I installed Version 8.7 to the GDUs.
I began the cowling modification to spli it longitudinally. This requires that I remove the honeycomb material prior to applying additional fiberglass. This was accomplished in several steps. The first step was to lay out the cut and split lines. Because the lines will be removed with the fiberglass surface, several holes were drilled on the split line for reference.
The lines were then cut using a Dremel saw, cutting throught the interior fiberglass layer only.. I then used a sharp chisel and pliers to remove the interior surface layer. This exposed the remainder of the honeycomb which was removed using a Fein multi tool and 80 grit s/p. I am still working on the perimeter sections where there is foam instead of honeycomb. I was successful in not penetrating the extior surface of the cowl.
