Today I worked on the seat heater wiring.

The harnesses supplied with the seat heaters were garbage...poor crimps, poor soldering, and poor layout for the aircraft. I considered modifying the harnesses to work but when two separate wire pulled out of there terminals, I decided to fabricate new ones.

Using 18 AWG tefzel wires, I fabricated two new harnesses using standard techniques. The first harnes took almost 3/4 of the time, as I had to determine the wire lengths and verify the wiring logic. Once the first harnes was complete, the second harness took much less time.

Because the wires pass through the tunnel and next to the cabin heat SCAT, I decided to use a short length of fire sleeve over the wiring in the tunnel.

The previously installed snap bushings were removed. The holes were enlarged for the next size larger snap bushing to accomodate the fire sleeve. New snap bushings were installed.

The tunnel cover was modified for a larger snap bushing and slotted to facilitate removal of the cover without removing the wiring.

Tunnel cover was placed into position and fit verified. I decided not to screw it down this time because I have removed it at least a half a dozen times already!
