Brief Description:  Install Instrument Panel

1600 - 1918

Today I installed a dedicated ground strip for the USB power ports and seat heaters. This was the simplest way to accomplish the task. Running the ground wires aft kept them out of the sidewall conduits and panel wiring.

Two 14 AWG wires were routed aft and connected to the main ground bus bar. A barrier strip was then mounted in the flap torque tube cover area. The 14 AWG wires were then connected to the barrier strip block using ring terminals. I realize that 14 AWG wires are overkill, but they will provide adequate ground for any future electrical additions.

Next, the seat heat power wires were routed and connected to the aux fuse block. The wires were routed at to the flap torque tube area, and will be routed into the tunnel for connection to the seat heat harnesses.

I then decided to alter the aft cabin heat SCAT tubing due to abrasion damage fro the tunnel cover. The 2" SCAT was worn though in two areas, and the tunnel cover isn't even installed permanently. The solution was simple. Remove the short length of 2" SCAT, install the 1 1/2" - 2" adapter directly in the 2" elbow, and connect the 1 1/2" SCAT with an aluminum coupler. Much neater install, and no chance of abrasion damage.

I also delivered the seat parts to Aerosport for leather installation!
