Brief Description:  Install Baggage, Overhead Lighting

1330 - 1612

Fabricate and install protective end cap on the rear seat support channel. I opted to do this to protect the switch and wiring located just inside the channel. The cap was fabricated from 032 sheet and secured with a B style sheet metal screw. This was edone to facilitate removal of the lights or switch if necessary. A nut plate would have interfered with removal.

Next I decide on and located the positions for the eyeball lights, dimmers, and dome light on the rear overhead panel. Pilot holes were drilled and the required holes for the eyeball lights were drilled using a step drill. This turned out to be a mistake. Even though the work piece was clamped, the drill wandered and the holes were offset by a fair amount. I decided to fabricate a duplicate panel from 032 sheet. The new panel was clamped and match drilled to the old panel. The edges were matched using a vixen file. All edges were then deburred and smoothed with a s/b wheel.

The holes were once again located and center punched. This time, I used a 1 1/8" hole saw. The holes turned out fine and were deburred. Next, the hole were drilled for the dimmer switches. I need to source a 2 3/16" hole saw for the dome light hole and additional interior paint.
