Brief Description:  Install RG400, Switch Wiring

1900 - 2042

Today was spent routing the remaining antenna wires.

I am planning on a GPS antenna for the GPS Nav, and for the GDL51R, a GPS/XM antenna. This requires thre separate rG400 cables routed into the overhead console.

I had considered routing through the forward cabin top brace but there is insufficient room to pass the three cables. Just a note: Had I relieved the forward fuselage top skin for the entire diameter of the brace, three cables would most likely have fit.

When the cabin top was installed, I did embed two conduits in the windshield posts. This is where the RG400 cables were routed. Unfortunately, those conduits were positioned directly above the cabin top mount bolts, which caused much frustration. The cable would fit but the bolt and nut were interfering with feeding the cables. After quite some time, I was succesfull in feeding the cables.

Next, I routed two #22 6 wire cables throught the cabin top brace. These wires will be the switch control wires for the Landing, Nav, Strobe, and Tip lights, asw ell as the Forward/ Aft heat control and Fresh air control potentiometers. There will be sufficient wiring for the 5V reference voltage and a common ground.

Tomorrow I intend to run the overhead console lighting wires. I will also rout the antenna cables and lighting wires through the forward portion of the console. These holes will then be sealed to prevent vent air leaks.
