Brief Description:  Install Garmin GEA 24 Harness

1430 - 1600

Install fire sleeve for main alternator field wire. This shield runs through two Adel clamps along the right side of the oil sump. This wire routing makes for a neater installation and the sleeve will protect the wire from engine heat.

Next, I disassembled the J244 connector and remove the wires for the resistive fuel quantity sensors.

Using the wiring diagram that Steinair updated, I installed the new wires for the Princeton fuel quantity sensors that are installed in the wings. After many phone calls to Garmin, Steinair, and Princeton Electronics, it was determined that the Princeton sensors will work fine with the Garmin system. They are indeed +12v input and 0-5v output sensors. The Princeton sensors are three wire sensors, this necessitated replacing the single wire with three wires, +12v, 0-5v signal, and ground. The shield were attached to the backshell per the diagram.

Using a dsub pin removal tool, the single wire pins were removed.

The new three wire pins were installed, wires labeled, and the backshell was reassembled.
