Brief Description:  Install Main Altenator Shunt, Aux Alternator

1400 - 1654

After studying the Z-14 schematic, I realized that the ANL fuse for the Aux alternator needs to be near the batteries...so I removed the ANL fuse holder.

I decided to install the ammeter shunts as I have them and it would be good info to have available. .
I fabricated a shunt cover from 063 Kydex. This cover will be fastened to the shunt using 6-32 screws. The shunt base was drilled and tapped to accept the 6-32 screws.

I installed the main alternator shunt on the firewall. I installed a nut plate and used a previously installed nut plate for the second screw.

Next, I installed the Aux alternator. It is a BC-410H and should make about 30 amps at cruise power. It was installed on the engine vacuum pad per the instructions. A new gasket was used and aviation Permatex applied to both sides of the gasket. All hardware as specified and nuts torqued to 55 inlb.
