I decided to fabricate a support bracket for the bypass cables. This will allow the cables to remain in the aircraft, connected and adjusted, if the CF console and side panels need to be removed.
The bracket was fabricated from 6061 aluminum and shaped to fit the inset area in the side panel.
Holes for the cables and mounting screws were match drilled using a #40 drill, then final drilled using a #19 drill to accomodate an 8-32 screw.
Nut plates were installed using standard techniques.
The side panel was cut to provide sufficient room to install the cables while the cables were secured to the bracket.
A piece of CF scrap was used to create an overlay for the bracket. The overlay will be permanently mounted between the cable jamb and the mounting bracket and will match the CF side panel.
