Today I fabricated a cable retention system for the left heat duct bypass valve. Yesterday, I attempted to use a universal cable swivel mount but unfortunately it did not work. The swivel allowed the cable and control arm to reach an overcenter condition so it was impossible to open the valve once closed. That method was discarded and a rigid clamp was fabricated.
Using a piece of .125 6061 aluminum, a plate was made using standard techniques.
A Cable Safe clamp was installed in the plate.
The plate assembly was secured to the engine mount tube with Adel clamps.
The wire was installed in the B nut and operation was verified for the full range of motion.
