I just received the heat bypass cables from McFarlane. They turned out really nice.
I decided to mount the cables on the right side of the lower console. This decision was made due to being ables to actuate the cables naturally, while flying. It is a short reach to the right side of the console and the push to unlock cables are easily operated. If I would have located them on the left side, it would have been much more problematic to operate them.
Due to the 1" diameter of the knobs, I will not be using an insert for the cables passing through the console sides. This means that in order to completely remove the CF lower side, the cables will need to be removed. This should be a rarity. It will be possible to unattach the CF side from the tunnel for maintenance as there is enough flexibility in the cables to move the panel out of the way.
