Brief Description:  Install Throttle/Prop Control Cable

1348 - 1518 1630 - 1842

Install firewall pass through for throttle and prop cables.

I used the single hole version available from Vans.

This should have been a relatively simple task, unfortunately it ended up taking all afternoon. The issue was making the holes in the firewall. I thought I would use a panel punch, as I had exactly the right size for these pass throughs. I drilled two 5/8" holes for the punch shank using a unibit. I then attempted to use the punch to create the correct sized hole. Unfortunately, the punch ended up tearing the SS sheet. This required me to make the hole oversized to eliminate all sharp corners. I then had to fabricate two 025 SS doublers to support the thin SS box around the oversized hole. Standard techniques were used, and the doublers were installed, one on each side of the SS box using Avdel SS rivets. Fire Barrier 2000+ was used to create a seal between the doubler and the SS box..

The second pass through only took about 20 minutes, as I just used a unibit to make the final diameter of the hole.
