Brief Description:  Install Landing Gear Legs, Pressure Check Plumbing

1400 - 1618

Pressure check all fuel fittings and brake fittings. I fabricated an adapter for the air compressor hose fitting to adapt it to the AN flare fittings.

We pressurized the fuel lines with 45 psi and applied Camco Leak Check fluid to each joint. I have to say, this product works WAY better than soap and water. If there is a leak, you get tons of big bubbles and it is very easy to see. I also talked to the manufacturer who confirmed that it is safe to use on aluminum.

We found one minor leak at a fitting, tightening the fitting stopped the leak.

We tested the left system first then the right. No other leaks noted.

Next we tested the brake line fittings. We used 75 psi and found two minor fitting leaks. One fitting had not been tightened, the other needed to be snugged up. No other leaks noted.

Per the instructions, we fit the left gear leg. We needed to sand a bit of the powder coat down to get the leg in far enough. Once the leg was in, We reamed the hole with a .311 reamer.

Removed leg and deburred all holes.

Coated the inside of the gear fitting with corrosion-x and applied grease to the mating surfaces.

Installed leg, aligned hole, and installed specified hardware. Bolt was torqued to spec.

Repeat for right gear leg.
