Brief Description: Prepare Door Channel for McMaster Seal
1300 - 1424 1712 - 1818
Trim and sand door channel to achieve a nominal 1/4" gap between door and channel.
Most of the gaps were larger than 1/4", the largest being the bottom door channel. I used 1/4" thick cardboard, taped with packing tape on both sides to set the gap. The cardboard was taped to the door using double sided tape.
Sanded the bottom door channel with 60 grit s/p and cleaned surface.
Epoxy, flox, cabo was mixed and applied liberally to the door channel.
The door was then closed and secured using tongue depressors clecoed to the fuselage.
Excess epoxy was removed and used to fill cleco holes in the cabin top.
Hopefully, tomorrow the door will separate from the packing tape leaving a flange face 1/4" from the door surface. Thanks to those that came before and posted this method.
