Brief Description:  Position and Drill Hinges

1630 - 1830

Locate and match drill cabin top to hinges in two locations using #12 drill.

Install AN509 bolts and nuts.

The door sits low on the cabin top so per plans, fabricated two 063 shims for the doors.

Installed shims and door sits nearly flush with cabin top.

Match drill remaing holes , bolt as drilled.

Cleco door to fuselage using index holes.

Match drill door to hinge using #12 drill, in two locations.

Install bolts and nuts.

Remove clecos and open door.

Match drill and bolt remaining holes in door.

Open an close door, checking for any door warpage or stress. None noted and door is easily opened and closed with no binding. WOO HOO!

Using jigsaw with permagrit blade, trim door flange within 1/8" of line denoting the edge of door opening.

Noting minor flex in the door when door is closed and in the opening, I decided to temporarily install lower door guides to prevent any movement during trimming. Guides were made from 1/4" masonie and an 1/8" angle attached to the door channel with double sided tape. Now when the door is closed naturally, the guides prevent any movement of the door relative to the cabin top.

Using belt sander, sand flange to edge line, checking door fit often.
