I cut a hole for the Emergency Locator Transmitter switch and fastened with AD2 rivets and #4 nutplates. There was no deflection of the compass when I put the nutplates next to it and the screws are stainless, so the mounting shouldn't interfere ... yet to be seen if the electronics do, but that can be accounted for in the compass swing.
