I finally decided to bite the bullet and make a new windshield fairing. The old one was too thin at the trailing edge and over the glare shields and too far forward over the canopy bow, so I'd rather remake the part than build the areas up with more layers. This time I'll allow for a 1/16"seal at the canopy rub point as well.
I positioned the canopy where it ought to be and taped the whole area in preparation for resin and Aerosil, followed by about 6-8 layers of twill weave carbon.
