I trimmed the port track cover and drilled. This bracket will take a pounding as the canopy slides to full open and not long ago a Rocket canopy was blown off and smashed into the empennage during runup. So, my priority is to stop the bracket twisting and ultimately fatigue cracking. I'll also add a custom cut piece of medium-density foam inside the track to absorb the bulk of the shock.
I don't want nine screw and rivet holes for nutplates in the bulkhead, so I'll make a 0.032" doubler plate to fit behind the bulkhead with the nutplates riveted to that instead.
