We centred the rod ends in each connecting rod and measured the overall length. We then transferred that measurement to the skirt brace and traced around the pivot block. I took to the area with the step drill, then the die grinder, then the belt sander and finally removed the brace for filing and sanding smooth. We then measured for 3/16" screws and counterbored them so the nyloc nuts would stay tight without a spanner and countersunk the other side for the skin dimple. When that was done, I assembled the fittings for a final check. I hope the other side comes out as neatly.
Later I'll cut the extra handle off, since it's easy enough for the passenger to reach the front locks to get out in an emergency. Otherwise they just block some of the outside view and get in the way of cameras.
