The later canopy frames come in pieces that facilitate welding everything exactly in the right place. My frame came pre-welded and the pivot points don't match the later 9/16" front bow to windshield bow spacing, so I made new latches. I could push the frame further aft, but I don't want a wider fairing over the windshield / canopy junction, which at least to some degree restricts vision (especially during formation flying).
