Brief Description:  Pilot seat

Pilot seat

I spent quite some time sitting in the seat making noises ... but when I wasn't doing that I was checking on clearances to decide on where to mount the Velo pilot seat. There seems to be less slant on the Velo seat back than the standard design, so when the lower front cutouts are sitting on the spar, the seat back is well forward of the crossover bar and the pilot's head is close to where the canopy will be. The centre bottom of the Velo seat is lower than its mounting rails, so I may need to lower the floor panel in that spot - being careful not to limit room for the control torque tube to move.

Gotta say though ... this machine fits like a glove - wow. My concern that the canopy bow may compromise visibility was unfounded. Sure, there is some obstruction looking sideways, but the forward sector view is great and it is well worth it for the slider IMHO.

I also considered fitment of the rear Velo seat, which contacts the flap bar even without the box cover installed. Either it will need to be mounted forward, or raised to mount over the flap bar. That would reduce head room, but may be a necessary compromise for leg room.
