Brief Description:  02 - Flap torque tube

Flap torque tube

Unfortunately, when I made the passenger arm rests, I mounted the linear actuator upside down This gave me the perception of more room than there actually is, which is a problem when the flaps are down because the motor contacts the torque tube and stops full deflection. I also wasn't happy with the factory angle of the bolt holes, which was straining the actuator at the retracted end of its swing, so I made a bunch of measurements, cut the old bracket off, put a slight dog-leg in the arm outboard of the connecting rod, fabricated a new attach bracked and tack welded that in place. It worked out very well with no binding (I can easily remove the bolts in the up or down position), but the price might be a few degrees less flap deflection, which I can only check with the flaps installed.
