It's exactly nine years to the day since I picked up the Rocket kit ... not the rate of progress that I hoped for since, but hey, life and work got in the way and it should be finished by Christmas right!
It's been a long day with an 0330 start for rum and coffee, dawn service at 0500, shotgun breakfast at 0540 followed by the ANZAC parade in the cold and rain until 1230. My full dress uniform has never been soaked before ... I hope it pulls up OK, but hardly a problem compared to what our diggers faced day after day for years, knee deep in muddy trenches soaked in blood, surrounded by dead mates and rodents. Hundreds of thousands of Australians have died serving their country to preserve our values and way of life ... we will never forget their service.
