Today I started final trimming the windshield. I quickly discovered that I needed the boot cowl cutout (crescent) in place to be sure how much windscreen acrylic to remove from the front. I want a long windscreen to minimise drag and give the best possible birdstrike protection. After rough trimming, I was satisifed that there is plenty of working room inside the boot cowl in this configuration.
There is an option to rivet the crescent to the instrument panel bulkhead, but the screws let me affix and remove this part without contorting myself to fit clecos from underrneath.
