After not much sleep and a 26km mountain bike ride this morning, I decided to make something that required a little less contorting my body into the airframe.
I started fabricating the firewall passthrough for the brake fluid reservoir. I turned the body and used a 1/8" NPT die to cut the smaller thread, then cut a 3/4" thread on the lathe for the nut. I'll make the nut next, then remove any excess thread to shorten the spindle as much as possible. Then I'll thread the bore with a 10mm x 1.5 pitch tap and face the end ready for a double banjo bolt and crush washers. There'll be UHMW washers between the fittings and the firewall to minimise corrosion, but I may ask my friends at Speedflow to anodise the parts.
