I finished fabricating the support bracket, drilled the longeron for nutplates, Alodined, primed and installed. Everything fits well with adequate clearance from the rudder cable; the door stays open as it should and the fire extinguisher can be easily removed. Later I'll add the bracket for a broad velcro strap and I'll probably add a band of self-amagamating silicone tape to the neck of the fire extinguisher to minimise potential vibration.
