I needed to be sure the fire extinguisher would fit where I wanted, so I reinstalled the pilot seat, the floor panels and doors, the circuit breaker panel and started fabricating a custom mount. I turned a base holder out of Acetal and secured it with a 3/16 rivet pop rivet through an existing tooling hole in the bulkhead. I think it will be about 3/8 too low for my taste, so I'll have to redrill and add a small doubler. I fabricated the aft bracket from some thick 2024-T3 angle and I'll add some lightening holes later. Then I'll add another bracket in the centre for a broad velcro strap. Everything clears the rudder cable nicely and the floor door has enough clearance to travel over-centre and remain open.
