After resin set, I pressed the filter down into the recess and added one layer of carbon to close off the gap at the bottom. When this sets, I'll add resin and Aerosil mix to produce an overhang that holds the low end of the filter in place. Nothing would stick to the silicone filter edges to protect it, so I hope the resin doesn't stick either!
