Brief Description:  01 - Cowl

Cowl

I kept trimming and trimming. I then drilled and clecoed three holes on each side of the cooling intake near the spinner area and one hole forward of the 'tabs'. I then slowly heated the spinner ring one side at a time and clamped with timber strips to remove most of the fugly dip toward the join. I'll still have to flatten this area out with epoxy & Aerosil later. While doing all this, I measured the 15.5 inches from the centre of the bottom radius to the top edge of the lower cowl (aft end), ruled a line and trimmed the excess away with the angle die grinder and cut off wheel.

I used a 24 inch block with a strip of coarse paper taped on to smooth the sides straight.

I used the Hartzell spinner to check that my 15 inch cowl flange was near enough to round.
