Brief Description:  Cowl

Cowl

I started trimming the cowl halves to fit together. I need to see how much room there is between the cowl and the engine baffles so I can make the plenum. I want to do this before I start routing control cables and wiring to ensure maximum clearances and minimise any opportunity for abrasion between parts.

I started by bolding the trim lines on the edges of the upper cowl with a ruler and marker pen. I then I trimmed the excess off. I matched the cut line on the inner air intake ports with the recess of the lower cowl nose bowl and trimmed the excess off, a little oversize. The size is just over 15 inches, as it should be at this stage. Making all this fit perfectly seems to be a slow and meticulous job, but lots of small cuts and smoothing should avoid mistakes.
