Remove Accessories for Engine Re-Paint
My engine is leaking oil like a sieve and only the cylinders were repainted during the soft overhaul, so I need to reseal the crankcase and accessory gearbox housing before painting. Hence, I removed all the accessories and crafted 1/2" thick acrylic cover plates and new gaskets to keep the oil in (and the degreaser, water and paint out)!
The engine and oil is very clean, but through the RH mag cover (left in the photos) you can see some carbon that made it's way out of the oil breather tube back into the gearbox after the engine was rotated on the stand (to keep oil circulated).
Soon I will mount the engine on a vertical stand to remove the sump for stripping and refitting with a new gasket - I hate oil leaks!
