Brief Description:  02 - Smoke oil nipples

Smoke oil nipples

I cut two steel Speedflow fittings short and welded them to some 2" stainless exhaust offcuts, then radiused and smoothed the welds and edges using a carbide burr in the die grinder. I then marked the positions and TIG welded them to the exhaust stacks before smoothing, etch pickling and wire brushing them clean.

Ceramic coating inside and outside the exhaust cuts down on radiated heat by 45%, so that should help stop the teflon feed lines from melting, but I may yet firesleeve the lines just to be sure given that the EGT can peak as high as 1650F (900C).

Later I'll make stainless restrictors (with smaller diameter holes) to limit the flow of parafin oil or my system would run dry in just a few minutes.
