Today I fabricated a #2 CCA fatwire terminal crimper pretty much to the specs in Perihelion Design's guide. The pin punch hole will line up with the centre of the terminal when the edge of the terminal is aligned to the nearest edge of the block. Obviously the block is held in a vice during the punch process and although the 1/8" insulation gap can't be seen when everything is clamped in place, at least the wire is kept supported and straight without tendency to squeeze out or bend during crimping.
