Beforet the upper cowl can be finish painted, I need to make covers for the hinge pin access holes. I put release tape inside and outside the cowl, filled the holes with wads of carbon fibres, then added some layers on the outside, plus peel ply, a piece of sponge and cover plates and clamped everything together. When this sets, I can grind off any excess resin on the inside, then pull the plug out of the hole and trim the shape to a nice tear-drop.
Later I will back drill a screw hole through the cover, then forward match-drill through the lower cowl flange and add a nutplate on the inside of the lower cowl.
