Brief Description:  01 - Oxygen cylinder

Oxygen cylinder

I removed the initial cast, scuffed the straight end with 60 grit, re-waxed the cylinder, reversed the cast and overlaid two more sheets of carbon at the opposite end. When this sets I''ll trim it down to the desired height of the blister (about one inch) and use it as a mould by encapsulation as I overlay a new carbon fibre floor panel. The flat base of the cylinder will be very close to the rear spar, so the front of the blister will overhang the bulkhead at that point, but the intent is to smooth out the transition in the floor to avoid an unsightly plunge at the base of the cylinder where it is in plain sight.

The floor recess underneath is a trapezoidal shape across its width and also in depth, so later on I'll find a way to suspend the cylinder in the blister while I match mould some kind of mounting receptacle onto the belly skin.
