I only had 0.100" 4130 chrome moly, but that will be fine with some strategically located lightening holes later on. At least it won't break ... it's a kinda critical area! It may also be a good investment in safety by reducing the possibility of the VS twisting and folding sideways in the event of a tipover, however unlikely. The VS front spar is pretty stiff and I'd rather the tail held the fuselage further off the turf to make egress easier if that were to happen.
