Brief Description: Tested AST servo, began empennage fairing fitting
Set up a DPDT switch attached to a 12 V power supply to test the travel limits of the AST servo. It appears that the specified settings in the drawings were correct--no tweaking required.
Began preparation and installation of the empennage fairings. Began with the rudder and VStab tip fairings. Split some blue masking tap down the middle to make 1/2" wide tape as a guide for how much to sand off. Used a DeWalt 1/4 sheet sander to whittle things down slowly--began with 150 greit sandpaper, which was much too slow. The coursest sandpaper I had was 100 grit, which was still a bit slow--plans recommend 80 grit. The rudder tip is straightforward--sanded, installed, match hole drilled, and clecoed back in place. The VStab tip requires a little more finessing--still working on it.
