Brief Description:  Debur Front Spar Components, Begin Match Drilling

Today my plans were somewhat diverted, as I helped my son set up his new arcade video game console in the basement. Although this wasn't a project either of us intended to tackle today, it worked out well, since he asked for my help in dealing with the rats nest of wiring that was delivered from the store. This turned out to be a fun project for both of us, and allowed me to teach him some new skills (e.g., how to use cable ties and label the wires to ensure a clean set-up). This little diversion took up most of the morning and afternoon, but we finished the job, and my son is proud of his accomplishment and happy with the new skills he learned. More importantly, he is enjoying the new video games. After we finished, I started working on the RV-10 project (approx. 4 PM). Spent most of the late afternoon and early evening deburring the front spar, spar caps, stringers, and doubler. Around 9 PM, I began match drilling the spar caps. I clamped the parts together and then clamped the entire assembly to the workbench to hold the spar in a vertical position. Then I used a drill bushing to ensure that the match-drilled holes remained perpendicular to the surface. Through the process, I used lots of clecos to ensure that the spar caps remained tight against the spar, so I ended up fastening each new hole with a cleco as soon as it was drilled. Somewhere around 11 PM, I finished drilling the top cap. I eventually got half-way through match-drilling the bottom cap before I looked up at the clock and noticed it was well past midnight. Not wanting to bother the neighbors with the sound of the air drill running that late at night, I decided to retire for the evening. I'll pick up where I left off in the morning.
