Brief Description:  Rivet Rudder Trailing Edge & Spar

Today was a big day, with the completion of my first trailing edge on a control surface. Rather than back-riveting these double-flush rivets, I decided to employ the method taught me by Troy Grover at the Grov-Air class. I ground down a spare flat set at an angle matching the AEX wedge in the trailing edge and then used the hand rivet squeezer to set these rivets. In order to maintain a straight edge, I installed each subsequent rivet on the trailing edge from the opposide side of the rudder from the previous rivet (e.g., L, R, L, R, L). I began in the middle on one side of the rudder, set the rivet half-way, and then moved to the ends of the trailing edge, setting the outermost rivets half-way. Then I moved to the other side of the rudder and repeated the process. At the end of the night, all the rivets were complete, and the trailing edge was as straight as it was during the initial set-up. Sweet!
