Brief Description: Match Drill Skins & Trailing Edge
Spent the day today match-drilling the trailing edge, spar, skeleton, and skins. I made an 84-degree jig out of MDF per the sketch in Van's practice project airfoil to ensure that the rivet holes in the trailing edge were perpendicular to the chord of the rudder rather than the skin. I also clamped the trailing edge to the side of a long aluminum straightedge to ensure that the trailing edge was straight during the drilling process. After the trailing edge was match-drilled, I match-drilled the rest of the skin to the spar and the rest of the rudder skeleton. This produced a nice, straight, trailing edge when complete. When everything was match-drilled, I disassembled the parts and spent the rest of the evening deburring holes in the skeleton pieces. Tomorrow I will debur and dimple the skins.
