Brief Description:  Prep & Prime Ribs & Stringers

Today was completely dedicated to prepping and priming the inspar ribs, nose ribs, and stringers. The preparation phase was quite time-consuming and included photographing all the Sharpie orientation markings with a digital camera for future reference, spraying each part with Alumiprep 33, scrubbing all the surfaces with a Scotch-Brite pad to ensure proper adhesion of the primer spray (but which, with the Alumiprep, also unfortunately removes the markings), rinsing off the Alumiprep with water, drying with an air hose, and then re-applying the orientation markings with a Sharpie before priming, using the digital photos taken earlier for reference. The priming phase was completed in stages, spraying two coats of Mar-Hyde 5111 until all the surfaces were evenly covered, but ensuring that the orientation markings were never completely obscured, since they will need to be visible during final assembly.
