Brief Description:  Finish Cradles, Debur Skins, & Assemble Skeleton

Today I finished fabricating the cradles for the horizontal stabilizer, using some aluminum angle stock that I bought from Lowe's this morning for support stands. Then I lined the cradle openings with duct tape to protect the skins. After the cradles were complete, I arranged my two workbenches end to end in order to support the total length of the horizontal stabilier, and then retrieved the skins from storage in the attic. After deburring the edges of the two skins (vixen file and 180 grit sanding sponge), I removed the blue vinyl from the inside surfaces, and mounted the skins in the cradles. Then I laid out the oval cut-outs for the rudder cables on the inboard nose ribs, which I plan to finish tomorrow. Finally, I assembled the skeleton components (i.e., front spar, nose ribs, and inspar ribs) and began match-drilling to final size with a #30 drill. By the end of the day, I had completed drilling the nose ribs and had set up the inspar ribs to be drilled tomorrow. Today was another long day (almost 10 hours), but it felt very productive, since the assembly was finally starting to take shape.
