Brief Description:  Factory Checkout & First Hover

I had the New Zealand Safari rep help me out with the final dynamic rigging and balancing as well as the first hover checks. Bruce Belfield spent a full 5 days going over the helicopter and fine tuned the balancing of the main and tail rotor. We ended up with about nine hours of hover time. I had a problem with the governor (due to a bad signal from the electronic ignition controller) so we had to control RPM manually.

The ship flew smoothly with no major problems except for the seats. Once you spent a few minutes hovering around, it became clear that the seat bottoms were too tall and the seat backs were too thick. This has since been corrected but the lesson learned is to keep the seats just thick enough to be comfortable.

Bruce brought a set of his titanium tail rotor blades with him. Once we bolted them on and did the first hover I knew they weren't coming off (I think Bruce had it planned this way). Another thing about Bruce to keep in mind- Plan on putting in 10-12 hours per day if you get this guy to help you. I had to drag him out of the hangar each night.
