Brief Description: Mounting the Dynon remote Compass
Dynon requires that the remote magnetometer be mounted at the same angle of inclination of the D100 display unit. This required fabricating a plastic shim cut to a 12 degree angle to match the tilt of the main instrument panel face. A table saw did a real good job of cutting the wedge to the proper angle and a little bit of belt sanding finished it off.
Dynon has also issued a service bulletin to repair the remote compass unit by disabling a defective diode that gives incorrect temperature readings to the main EFIS (the remote temp probe also connects to the remote compass module). I later found that it was necessary to mount the unit on plastic spacers or standoffs to allow clearance for the connector since it was angled so far toward the front.
