Brief Description: Finishing Construction Of The Main Panel
After engraving the front panel markings, I set each instrument in the finished panel to check alignment and clearances. There appears to be plenty of room even with the large LCD screen of the Dynon unit. I went with the super bright screen option considering that there isn't much shading for the unit in the pod. After checking the fit of the panel it was time to prepare the pod itself for painting. I sanded down the parting lines in the gel-coat and scuff sanded the entire surface to ensure primer adhesion. The inside surface of the pod was not gel-coated. I will need to apply a fill primer to even out the appearance of the exposed woven mesh since the panel is inset slightly into the pod. The pod will be given a coat of epoxy primer, a base coat of semi-gloss black polyurethane and then a medium texture coat. I'll apply the same finish on the center console.
