I decided to fill in the gap at each skid mount and gear leg socket with a band of high quality silicone sealant. The mounts are 4130 steel and I want to avoid water entrapment between the skid tube (hard coat anodized) and the mount. I didn't force the sealant deeply into the joint in case I decide to remove the skids at a later date for some reason. For the same reason I did not apply sealant to the inside diameter of the lower gear tube, just around the joint on the outside. The boys in New Zealand report that they see a lot of corrosion in these areas.
