Brief Description:  Mounting of Oil Sump

I wanted to mount the big stuff before I route all of the hoses and wires for the engine.

My kit was one of the first to be shipped with the new style round oil sump. After mine shipped, the factory determined that the oil pickup fitting should be larger. I re-drilled and tapped both bottom welded bushings to accept 5/8" fittings. I also drilled and safety wired the cap on the drain port. On this particular tank the rear support was too short to use the supplied U-Bolt that wraps around the frame tube. I found a stainless steel Adel clamp that provides a good solid support. I understand that the new kits have the bushings tapped to the larger size and the rear mount is a little longer.

Side note: This particular style Adel clamp has a small "tooth" that clips into a slot on the opposite side and holds the clamp shut while you put the bolt in. What a time saver. If you have ever had to fasten two clamps together you know what I mean. I just wish I would have known about these before I was nearly done with the kit.
