I want to do the final install of the transmission next weekend so I thought that if the fuel lines were put in now it would be easier than trying to work around the tranny and rotor mast later.
I set the tanks just to get the lengths of hoses right. I will remove them before I install the transmission. I will fit the fuel qty senders when it gets closer to the first engine start.
I have two different styles of Curtiss drain valves for the bottom of the tanks. One style uses a sample flask to open it (see last photo below) and the other twists open by hand and empties into a drain tube. I chose the type that drains into the sample flask due to the reason that I want to see what's in my fuel tank during each pre-flight. Draining the sump to the ground through a drain hose won't allow me to check for water, sediment or check the color of the fuel.
