Brief Description:  Main Rotor Tracking and Balancing (cont)

The tracking of the main blades took 4 runs to get the blades flying in the same plane. I first leveled the head box and checked that each blade had an initial setting of -2 degrees of pitch. The first run showed that the red blade was low. It took approximately 1/8 revolution of the pitch link rod to get both blades on track.

The actual balancing took 10 runs. The normally accepted standard for balancing is .20 IPS.

The initial IPS logged was .54. By a slight adjustment of head shift I was able to get to .21 IPS. By adding 6 grams to the blade grip the IPS reading dropped down to .07. I'm going to try to get it a little lower this next weekend.
